چکیده
conclusion to reduce superfluous costs and time, cystobiliary fistula with < 206 ml/day mean drainage until the 20th day may be efficiently treated with percutaneous drainage using small catheters. results all 10 cysts with cystobiliary fistulas were managed with small (8 f) catheters. all patients in the conservative group had < 211 ml/day mean drainage for the 20 days. for the patients that developed cystobiliary fistulas of liver hydatid disease, 30% required surgical treatment. after receiver operating characteristic (roc) curve analysis, the cut-off value for success of hydatid cyst treatment was 206 ml/day of drained content. objectives this study aims to use mean volume of fluid, which is drained from a liver hydatid cyst with cystobiliary fistula developing after percutaneous treatment, for determining the type of treatment as surgery versus conservative. patients and methods the cohort data was collected retrospectively from 10 out of 90 hydatid cysts in 10 out of 65 patients treated percutaneously with needle and catheterization methods. groups were defined as surgical and conservative. the mean volumes until the 20th day after detection of the biliary fistula were used. in addition, the mean volumes until the 20th day of 42 catheterization patients without biliary fistula were used as controls for quantitative analysis.

Can Occult Cystobiliary Fistulas in Hepatic Hydatid Disease Be Predicted Before Surgery?
BACKGROUND Biliary fistulas because of the cystobiliary communication is the most frequent and undesirable postoperative complication of hepatic hydatid surgery. We aimed to identify the predicting factors of the occult cystobiliary communication in this study. METHODS The patients who underwent surgical treatment for hepatic hydatid disease between 2003 and 2008 were reviewed retrospectively...
متن کاملInsertion of Hickman catheters by the percutaneous technique.
Hickman catheters have previously been conventionally placed by surgical dissection. This usually performed by experienced surgeons and is carried out under general anaesthesia. We report our preliminary experience in Hickman catheter placement by percutaneous technique in twenty patients. We outline the implantation methods and complications encountered by this technique. The procedure is rela...
متن کاملPercutaneous salvage of thrombosed immature arteriovenous fistulas.
Thrombosed immature fistulas have historically been considered unsalvageable. However, advances in procedure and balloon catheter technologies have expanded the scope of endovascular treatments. This study investigates the efficacy, functionality, and cost associated with the use of percutaneous techniques for the salvage of thrombosed immature fistulas. Over a 2-year period and from a populati...

Background: Surgery is the treatment of choice in echinococcal cysts with cystobiliary fistulas. PAIR (puncture, aspiration, injection, and reaspiration of scolecidals) is contraindicated in these cases. Aim: To evaluate a modified PAIR method for percutaneous treatment of multivesicular echinococcal cysts with or without cystobiliary fistulas which contain non-drainable material. Patients: Twe...

Since 1968 when Wilmore and Dudrick described normal growth and development in a child receiving all nutrients intravenously,' the practice of total parenteral nutrition in infants and children has become established as a life saving procedure.2 Maintaining the infusion of hypertonic feeding solutions by the use of peripheral veins over anything but short periods is unpleasant for the patients ...
